Thinking of buying from Splashdvd?.......BE WARNED!!

Aslan (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 3rd May 2003, 15:52

Ordered some discs from splashdvd, some were eventually delivered. One was not. I then received an email stating

"As you will no doubt be aware we have had some difficulty fulfilling your order. Our sincere apologies for this, we ourselves have had some serious supply issues which are still being sorted out.

I am acutely aware that a month is too long to wait for delivery so propose the following options to resolve this."

One of the 2 options was to cancel and have my payment refunded within 5 working days. It`s now quite a while since then and have I had a refund? In a word...NO!! I have emailed them demanding my dosh back but they just ignore them.

All I can say is that they are a (VIEWPOINT EDITED BY MODERATOR, AS POTENTIALLY LIBELLOUS) and my advice to you all is...DON`T BUY FROM THEM!

Join the club...

However, updating this post, I have to agree with subsequent posters and suggest a little caution and a little discretion. Accusations of dishonesty are counterproductive, no matter how strongly you feel, and do leave you wide open to charges of libel. The burden of proof to such accusations will be entirely on you. If you are in dispute with the company over a refund, then you should take the matter up with your credit card company who will sort things out.

I have been monitoring the situation with SplashDVD closely, as I am also waiting for them to complete an order. They have upset a quite considerable (and vociferous) number of customers, although it is entirely possible that the fault lies with their supplier in turn. What has been unforgivable has been the lack of communication between the company and its customers regarding delays. I would also add this caveat: SplashDVD obviously work with a very tight turnover - evidenced by them charging for goods on ordering rather than on despatch. The lead times they publish on the site also indicate they keep little if any stock at what premises they might operate from. It is entirely possible their financial position may be interfering with the speed of their making refunds, and immoderate postings could exacerbate the problem. Give them a couple more weeks, then set your bank on them.

There are many members here who have dealt with Splash without problems, including myself, and although I sympathize with your problem your post is bordering on the libelous and could create problems for the site.
I suggest you edit your post and remove the accusations of dishonesty quickly.
Your post should be in the retailer reviews forum anyway.
Calm down, lifes too short ! Honest ;-))

Aslan, you are totally entitled to your point of view, but I should warn you that DVD Reviewer will not tolerate potentially libellous comments - we would be in as much doo-doo as you if the company decided to prosecute.

I have, therefore, edited out the potentially libellous statements you made - please take more care with what you allege in a public forum, particularly if it puts other people at risk from legal action (ie Reviewer).

Had two games from them(out of six) since I ordered on march 20th. At the prices I was getting mind you, it was worth it. Mind you, since I ordered I`ve had time to buy Deus Ex, Messiah and Homeworld(from sold out) and complete all of them. I didn`t bother with the DVDs though as the prices weren`t quite so fantastic for those.

All in all, the delivery times aren`t fantastic but I`ve had worse customer service.
