DVD Multi Writers

SidShady (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 8th June 2008, 12:33

Does anyone know if these Multi writers will write multiple copies from a PC.

I am not looking for a copier. Rather when i record my video, I would like to burn them onto like 5 DVD`s or more at once.

Also what software would I use? Most software just gives the 1 option to burn a DVD.

Overall what I need to do, is create a DVD quick from a Video file and then Burn them all at once.

So I guess I would need software to convert or make the file into .Vobs etc and do all the menus and stuff.

Is there anything that would do this without having to repeat the process again and again?

depends which one you go for, the easiest route it a simple multi copier, you get the box with a controller for x amount of drives, then just add the drives, once done, it`s a standalone unit & you simply put the master disc in the reader & press copy, job done. no software required. the start cost would probably be about £100 fr the box & controller, then £15 ish per burner. (thats a guess, not looked for ages) your local computer fair is the best bet, but places like SVP used to do them as well.

another way is to have it all in your main pc, for your purposes you would need a tower case with 6 available bays, one reader & 5 writers, from here i`d recomend you use sata dvd burners, much less hassle, my motherboard can handle upto 9 sata devices & 2 ide devices, but you can get a pci sata card & add another 4 per card if required, your start up costs here vary, depending on your current hardware & what it can accept, but i would assume you would need at least a new Case, @ about £50, then maybe a sata card @ £15 (ebay) then your burners. as for software, nero will happily handle multiple drives, i`ve done 3 copies at once on mine without issue, i don`t think 5 would be any different, as long as you have a reasonable PSU & a decent amount of memory.

hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for that. But what I am doing is creating the movie or dvd on the hard drive and then burning say 5 copies. So its not a straight forward copier that I need.

Can this still be done?

as i said, it depends which method you use, the first requires you create the dvd on your pc, then use the multi copier, the second way makes the copiers built into your pc, so you would create it the way you do now, but instead of making a single copy, you make 5. either way the creation is done on your pc.

look at this thread for how to actually Make the dvd http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/forums/thread.asp?Forum=113&Thread=726103&Type=1
