Is there any way to make your own DVD menus?

Viewtiful Mark (Elite) posted this on Monday, 22nd January 2007, 13:38

Hullo again.

I`ve recorded some programs off TV, but like a wally I just left the recorder running and recorded a lump of stuff that I`d like to seperate into episodes on a disc. Is there any way of doing this, and also of using my PC to make a nice menu setup for the disc. I have DVDShrink etc, but I don`t think you can do this with that program.

Something that`s free to download preferably! Cheers.

take a look on videohelp.com, they have guides on how to do everything and quite often there will be a guide on something using only freeware software.

I know i`ve made a simple dvd menu in the past but cant remember what software I used. it would have been through that site I found it though.

If you go into Re-Author in DVD Shrink you can set start and end frames and extract each episode as individual .vob files and play them off a disc that way, if there isn`t a better way of doing it. :)

Thanks for all your suggestions people. I`ll check them all out. I did try the re-author options in Shrink though, but seeing as it didn`t allow me to create a menu of any sort I left it. I did create the seperate episodes as you said though Martin.

Thanks again. Any more suggestions well appreciated. :)

I`ve downloaded DVDStyler from SourceForge.net, and I`m going to have a play with it over the next few days. It looks like just the thing I`m after!

Many thanks for your replies again dudes! :)

TMPGEnc DVD Author is also remarkably simple.

When you finalise your disc the recorder should create a simple `programme select` menu too...
