Page 1 of SAFEBOOT can it be bypassed
PCs & Mobiles Forum
Hi,
I was recently given an ancient laptop. It is of no financial value but I would like to see if it can be made to perform. It has become a challange.
The hard disk is small.
We have tried the usual fdisk and format but it refuses to boot properly from the hard drive.
After a memory check it says Safeboot has been corrupted.
We have tried downloading a low level format program from the net, this had no effect.
With the hard disk in a desk top, operating as a slave, and it is impossible to work on even with a linux program.
The data on it is of no interest to us.
I appreciate it is only of junk value but any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks

You should be able to get into Safeboot management centre and choose various settings. However, this is likely to be password protected. Due to the possibility of sensitive data on the drive I can`t give any help on how to reinitialise everything so it`s best you contact the seller for their permission first and then contact the Safeboot team.
What version of safe boot is it ?
My experience of ver 3.5 and 4 is that you can wipe the hard drive from a bootdisk no problem.
RE: SAFEBOOT can it be bypassed
Hi,
The version is an old one, 3.1 and I do not want to keep any data already on it.
Unfortunately it says Safeboot is corrupted and it is not possible to remove using normal means.
I have tried to use a boot disk but it will allow you to fdisk, reformat and reload a Dos version then Windows but as soon as Windows is loaded it shuts down and when restarted gives Safeboot corrupted.
Any thoughts welcome.
