Eternaldark (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 25th May 2004, 17:06

currently default at 64mb, though i have a 256mb card, have changed it to 256mb and got small speed increase on 3d mark, will this do any damage to the motherboard or should i leave it at 64mb?
thanks

Hi E.D

i read somewhere that it`s best to set the agp aperture size to half
of the graphics cards memory. can`t remember where though!!

try it at 128Mb and run 3D mark, see if there`s much difference
between 128 & 256, probably be minimal.

Hi,
yep run 3d mark2001 with 256mb and 128mb in bios, and oddly enough got slightly better performance with 128 rather than 256. so will see how this goes :)

It may be that you guys could save my life, I`m desperately trying to get into bios to change the aperture for agp.
I have a compaq and cannot get into bios, how did you get into bios?

When booting up a flashing square appears in the top right corner, you should be able to enter the bios by pressing F10.

Having said that most Compaq\Dell\IBM etc BIOS setups are pretty minimal.
