Faulty M5 !!!!!!please help!!!!!!!!

My m5 is knackered, goes all funny colours when anything fast moves on
screen eg pod race in phantom menace

i bought it in oct/nov last year from tesco.

i still have receipt.

can i get my money back?????


IS IT TRUE SOME HAVE BEEN BURSTING INTO FLAMES!!!!!!!

I can assure you that M5 players have not been bursting into flames. But a year ago, however, some of their TVs did :-)

You should be able to get your money back if you still have the receipt. Sadly the player is now discontinued, but if your Tesco still has them you may want to swap over to the Dansai 852, which has been receiving rave reviews on this and other DVD Forums : stocks are low though, maybe to do with the fact the player retails a few cans of beans less than a ton :-)

I experienced a similar problem with my Wharfedale M5 (ie, red and green `shadows` in fast-action scenes). It turns out it was because I had my TV (which is not a widescreen model) set to normal picture, and the M5 set to `widescreen` output so it would appear correct (letterboxed) on my non-widescreenTV.

Now I have my M5 set to `normal` output, and I switch the TV to display in widescreen (on mine that is simply a button press on the remote control) whenever I watch a DVD and it works fine.
