I used to have my broadband coming through the set top box, but it kept on disconnecting for no reason, so when the silver boxes came out, and the word was they had less problems than the black Pace boxes I asked about having a new box, and they said no, although they did agree to install a modem instead.

That was a couple of years ago though, so things may have changed.

I think one of the reasons is it depends on what the guy who turns up at your house has in his van. They don`t swap boxes if they`re still working, and even if yours happened to break, it`s possible you could just get a reconditioned old one, rather than a new one.

no harm in asking though. Why do you want a new box? Say you have problems with your black one. The silver ones do seem better (my parents have one) they don`t have to switch it off an on again as often as i do, although since the change to Virgin i don`t have to do that so often.

Pay `em £150 for a V+ box and they`ll replace your old TW box with a new black PVR box that`ll record two channels while you watch a third, and give you HD facilities.

V+ boxes don`t cost £150 do they? I thought it was £50 install for the V+ (plus £10/month) and the original box installed upstairs (plus £10?/month).

I think the latest deal is £100 install then £5 a month for the box...
oh and you still keep the old one upstairs (or wherever)

Nope, £150 for the box and installation, but then that`s it as long as you`re on the minimum of the XL tv service. Keeping the old one is extra per month.

Ah so they`ve copied Sky by dropping the subscription? I`m a bit more tempted if that`s the case.

Yes but only for the XL Package. Saying that, with free Setanta, free VOD, free Music Vids and "free" V+, XL looks a bargain that many people are going for.
