Page 1 of Using PS2 with Digital Amp?

Hello, could someone help me? i have just started playing DVDs on my Japanese PS2 now that i have the RegionX to play my Region 1 movies, but they are not playing in Digital,
I think i have everthing set up correctly as i have a game that plays cutscenes in DD 5.1
As i dont know Japanese i have probably missed out on something,
is there anyone there with the UK version who could maybe point me so something that i may need to do to enable digital sound when playing movies....Cheers.

The only thing I can think off
is are you connecting the PS2 to
the amp with an optical lead, if not
you need to get one, if you are then
go to the system menu on the PS2 and
make sure that the optical out is
switched on
