Does anyone now if I should order the Superbit edition or just go for the zone 4 edition. The zone 4 has had great reviews but would the superbit with DTS sound win it over. sorry should have placed in Software forum.

Barry,

Go here to see the verdicts on two of the new Superbit releases www.widescreenreview.com. It seems that the new encoding makes very little difference, and for the extra price and lack of special features-you have to ask if its really worth it.
I think there`s an element of ignorance on Columbia`s part here. Surely those in search of high quality dvd`s want full bit rate dts sound that takes full advantage of their high end equipment(such as myself),and not half bitrate encoding which is shared with a Dolby 5.1 track that already exists on a newly remastered r2 edition! AAAAAARGH that is so frustrating!
Columbia are taking a big bargain here, i for one will not be shelling out cash if the disc doesn`t show any great difference. And some more up to date movies wouldn`t go amiss either. What they should be concentrating on is the NEW releases in Superbit editions. A Knights Tale, would be a good start.
Thre that feels better.... :-)
