Help choosing a tv

Fielding Mellish (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 13th August 2001, 11:02

Hi,
Within the next few weeks I am looking to invest in my first widescreen tv. I dont know whether to go for a very cheap tescos type job or invest 500 - 1000 for something to last me a bit longer.
I`m looking for at least 28 inch.
Any recommendations or sites that can help me would be much appreciated.

My only piece of advice is that you`re going to have to choose between a 50hz and a 100hz tube.

You will get many different views on which is the best, but when it comes down to it, it`s an entirely SUBJECTIVE matter.

You need to get yourself out into the High Street and stare at as many screens as you can, and figure out which you prefer.

Oh yeah, the other thing is that if you have an AV amplifier then don`t be swayed by top-of-the range sets with things like built-in Dolby Digital decoders which you`ll NEVER use.

Good luck
