DVD-ROM Problem

Wayne Reeves (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 8th August 2001, 18:20

My PC DVD-Rom has suddenly decided to lock up when I attempt to load a DVD. The Drive is ok with everything else. The player is an ATI DVD player. I get the program opened ok, but it locks up everytime with a DVD loaded ?. Had this setup for 2 years without a hitch.
I have installed a new graphics card recently, would this have anything to do with it ?.

It`s most likely that the software that came with the ATI card was specifically written for the card uses the hardware it has.

Try using a generic DVD player software like PowerDVD or WinDVD both are fine players.

Cheers Boris - hadn`t noticed that - also noticed a DVDRGN.exe file which looks like you could use it to change regions.

Theres also a line in the registry with the region code in it ..... hehe.

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version\DVD_Region="2"
