SKIPPING/FREEZING on & off

mrinal (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 17th May 2005, 07:34

Hi
Some of the DVDs skip or freezes(mostly) when I play them. When I open/close the tray again it works fine or can repeat the same problem.
DVDs are often brand new
What could be the problem???DVD or DVD player???(pacific DVD 1002 2-3 yrs old)
And what to do about it??

Are you able to test the DVD`s on another DVD Player?
If they freeze / skip in the same point in the recording on the other machine it might be the Disc.
However if the Disc`s play fine in the other machine this cheap player might be coming to the end of it life.
I have a cheap Hyundai DVD Player that is about 3 years old but is starting to have a few problems with some disc`s. I have borrowed a friends DVD Laser Cleaner Disc and this made no difference at all.
Good Luck

Most of the so called brand new DVDs(region compatible) does play very well on the DVD drive of my computer, but gets stuck often in a particular spot in DVD player.
I have cleaned the laser lens.DVD surface looks very clear and I handle the DVD very carefully.

Having followed the various posts you`ve been putting up the last couple of weeks, mrinal, I think it`s pretty safe to say (unfortunately) that your Pacific 1002 has had its day. If it`s any consolation I have a machine of the same age, and it too has been showing signs of problems with discs (mostly home recorded DVD+Rs). It might be time to nip down to ASDA and pick up a newer model.

No, we`ve all enjoyed it immensely.

Dear Mark
In that case which model(multiregion hackable)should I go for, which is also good value for money, and comes with essential functions????
