JPEGs on Panasonic DMR E55

greenkingfisher (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 11th January 2005, 15:03

I have just got an E55 and it does not play JPEG files from a CD. I have access to a DVD writer on a PC. Can anyone recommend a way that I can store my photos on a DVD so that I can look at them on the E55? Someone recommended creating a slide show but I don`t know what software to use to make a compatible file that the E55 will recognise.
thanks

Just use your CD writing software ( eg Nero) to make a VCD with the photos. Dont need to write a DVD as you can get over 500 on a CD.

If you do want some new software to write a slide show DVD try Ulead Movie Factory 3

DVDs will allow you to write jpegs, but I`ve found it`s best to write them in one go (that`s a lot of pics!) - DVDs can be funny about multi-sessions.

Photo CDs will be read by many more DVD players.

The E55 supports VCD and DVD-V as long as it`s written on a DVD-RAM, DVD-R or a CD-R or CD-RW that`s finalized.

My E55 doesn`t recognise jpegs stored on DVD, but then again I did burn them with Nero as a standard data disk. My Panasonic S27 (player only) also doesn`t recognise them and that has Hi-MAT (co-operation with Microsoft for multi-media compatability).

Thanks for the info.

Sorry I am a bit ignorant about this.
Do I use a standard CD-R or RW to create a VCD with my pics?

Yes. Just be aware that a VCD with photos probably wont be as good a quality as a DVD Slide show.
