Another Philips progressive scan problem

David Banner (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 29th September 2004, 17:41

My Philips DVD-763SA DVD player can output YUV and my Philips plasma 42PF9945 has YPbPr inputs. I hooked them together with a profigold component lead and the TV says the format is not available? It`s supposed to be able to take YPbPr 480p, 576p, 1080i

Have I got them set up wrong or will the plasma "only" take a progressive scan signal?

Dave

If it`s the same as my Philips 9975 LCD the the plasma will only accept progressive and not component. Had the same problem connecting a Tosh 330 player, ended up buying a Pioneer 575 which works fine. I did have a problem with the geometry when the progressive picture was first displayed as it was seriously off centre. Thought it was the DVD player but you actually adjust this through the cursor on the TV remote. Suprisingly this isnt mentioned anywhere in the Philips TV manual.

Cheers for that Paul, I`ll put the component lead in the drawer until I get a progressive scan DVD player then.
