PLAYING SOUND FROM CABLE BOX THROUGH HOME CINEMA SYSTEM

TERRY H (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 7th May 2004, 13:17

HI

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE TECHNOSONIC HT 713 HOME THEATRE SYSTEM FROM WH SMITHS. I ALSO HAVE A PACE CABLE DIGIBOX WITH TELEWEST

I`D LIKE TO HEAR THE SOUND FROM THE DIGIBOX THROUGH THE HOME THEATRE SURROUND SOUND SPEAKERS WHILE WATCHING CABLE. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE EASY WAY TO DO THIS.

THANKS

TERRY h

Yeah the telewest digital box that you don`t get digital sound from.

I connected my Sony freeview box ( which has a digital coaxle out) into my Sony system and I get surround sound in my bedrrom but the telewest box just uses phono cables.
Maybe oneday the bbc and itv will broadcast in dolby digital

Just imagine getting to watch eastenders in DTS, that would be the best ever thing!!!!!!!

mine has left and right phono outs.. (it`s one of the older models.. and i insisted on it for this purpose)...

if you haven`t got one of those models..get a modified scart lead.. one with a full scart at one end.. and a scart + audio phonos at the other..

You may also be able to route it through your VCR if that has phono outs. I did this after I had to move from On Digital to Telewest and I no longer had coaxial digital out (and the newer Telewest boxes don`t have pho outs). Another option may be your TV, as that may have audio outs (as with my new Toshiba). Unfortunately none of the above will help the aweful picture quality that you get with Telewest. Freeview didgital has less compression artefacts than their poxy service.
