gtuser (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 18th January 2001, 22:38

Ok,
In January I bought a Thomson DTH4000 from Tempo`s. It runs fine and I havce no issues with it, but I have just recieved notification thatr I have won a Samsung 511 DVD player from BOL.com (bad timing or what!). Should I keep the Thomson or the Samsung, and what price should I sell the other for???

Please Advise ASAP

Regards

Gavin

I won a DVD from them aswell and I already have a Samsung 511!! Might just take the new one back to the shop with my old receipt and beg for a refund, then again might just put it in my bedroom.

On another note, I have had no problems with the Samsung 511, hacked easily, but I do believe that some are not hackable, oh and I`d better tell you before someone else does - it doesn`t play MP3, CDR, etc (but it`s a DVD player and I don`t care if it can`t). Other than that a good player from a (semi) decent manufacturer!

How long did it take to recieve your DVD player?? Also are you in the UK also or was it an international offer.
Anyway was you able to successfully change it to multi-region permenantly, as I have been reading through the crack pages here and it seems pretty complex.

Haven`t got the player yet so I hope it is not a hoax!! Just got an email the other day. The offer seems to have been open to Ireland and UK only, luckily I stay in Edinburgh then eh?

Anyway my player is hacked pemanently. I agree the multi region hacks in this forum do look complicated. The one that worked on mine is the Thomson hack - press REPEAT then 38767, select region 09, press OPEN, press STANDBY. Apparently early versions of this machine do not hack.

Hope this is of some use :-)
