Wharfy 750 and Hollowman R1

Guys and Gals - After recently using the hack for my Wharfy, and being very happy I have now come across this little pain!

RCE on Hollowman - how can I get around it - apart from taking the player back (not an option), or letting Aiwia Rock even further!!!

Help please - Tar

MD - I am in the same boat. Rumour has it that a firmware upgrade is needed to get over the RCE encoding for early 750 players (later ones allow a specific region selection rather than the multi-region selection of early models).

Check out dvdchips.co.uk

I can`t vouch for them as I`ve not got around to ordering the new firmware - but this seems to be the only solution at the moment.

Guys - don`t spend that hard-earned cash just yet!

I tried the new firmware from dvdchips.co.uk - and it doesn`t work (my Warfy doesn`t even `boot-up` anymore).

I`ll keep you posted to see if it`s a one-off bad chip from them or if there`s a more sinister story to unfold...

You need the firmware upgrade - but dont spend any money ! Phone the tesco help line and tell them you have a problem with R2 Jaws (you will need the disc!). They send out a nice man that does the upgrade for you.
Obviously this only works if Jaws wont play on your player!

Alternativley I can send an image of the firmware upgrade if you can get access to a EPROM burner.

Check the firmware in your machine. The latest firmware has the checksum 32BC (written on the EPROM label).

I can`t understand what happened with ur replacement chip from DVDCHIPS. I got one from them for the Patriot, put it in myself and bingo, that was me around the RCE problem.
Ring DVDCHIPS and let them know what has happened, they if they have any customer relations at all they will sort out ur problem FOC.

Vidall,

Problem sorted. New chip came from dvd.chips.co.uk as soon as I contacted them - I put it in and all is well.
