Steer clear of Medion!!!!!!

martymcfly (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 24th April 2003, 22:46

I have bought an in-car CD player and it has an irritating habit of losing the display screen.......I also bought a Digital camera which was faulty, I sent it back only to be sent a replacement which didn`t work at all. I bought these items from Aldi`s and they refunded my money with absolutely no qualms, good on you Aldi.
The Medion hotline is an absolute joke !!!!! They are not interested, all they do is say " box it up and send it back " The goods may be cheap but they are crap, it`ll cost you more in post and packaging returning the goods umpteen times than to put an extra few quid to the cost of the item and buy something decent, be warned!!!!!!

Cheers, Marty.

Shouldn`t this be in retailer reviews, not bargain buckets?

Yes, now that you mention it..........but I can`t be arsed typing it all out again, and anyway people think you`re getting a bargain buying Medion, so there is some reasoning in my choice of forums, I think.

Cheers, Marty :-)

I`ve had a Medion PC for a couple of years and I`ve never had any problems with it, maybe you`ve been a bit unlucky in the past.

Cheers,
Rich.

Good of you to warn people Marty but just to balance it out, I guess you`ve been dead unlucky or I have been extremely lucky. Had this laptop from Aldi since last August and (fingers crossed from now) not one problem yet. This is the second one though as the first one had a faulty power but I just took it back to ALDI and they swapped it no fuss or bother.

I had bought a Medion video sender from toys r us in june last year, but only got round to try it out 2 weeks ago when I got a telly for the kids.
It was faulty, so I went down to toysrus with the receipt ( The unit was mint- in the box complete with all the packaging. ( still within the 12 months warranty)
The chappie at toys r us told me to ring Medion, so I reminded him that I had purchased it from them & they had my money & therefore they have to sort the problem out.
So he made me wait for the manager, but he never showed up, but the guy come a new replacement.
I told the chappie that the manager needed training in "customers` rights".

I have bought a Medion pc from Aldi 3 weeks ago, & touch wood, it has been allright- fingers crossed!!!!!

My m8 bought a pc from aldi last January. In March due to the the sony cdr refusing to work he got it touch with them they came out and replaced it, 3 weeks later the dvd drive failed they came back and replaced that, then it wouldnt recognise anything connected to any ports so out they came, took the pc back and replaced motherboard after waiting 5 weeks. September it went again so he got intouch they said they would send someone out to it,October the engineer arrived stating that no one was in the last time he called when my m8 asked what date it was he couldnt say.

They fixed it - November the motherboard started to play up again( i suggested to find a bios upgrade for the mainboard, MSI said they didnt support that board) not recognising anything connected then the sony cdr went again, he contacted them, they said someone would be out on the monday he stayed in, no one showed up,got intouch with them- well to cut the story short january arrived and the computer still hadnt been fixed, so he got intouch with them who told him the warranty was now invalid and if he wanted it fixing he would have to pay.

This computer has nothing to do with me what so ever , im just telling u his story with medion.

Globefm.........thanks for sharing that story, the point is that Aldi customer care is excellent but Medion`s customer care is crap.........if you`re lucky, or in my latest involvement with them "non-existent"

Cheers, Marty.
