Lenoxx Sound HT 500 Home Theatre System - £129 @ Safeway from 18th Dec

Does anyone know much about the Lenoxx Sound (also branded as Regent I believe) HT 500 Home Theatre System? I can`t find out anything regards multi-region/macrovision/SVCD compatibility!

From what I can find out, it does MP3`s, JPG`s and VCD`s, and the speakers are 15w each (the sub is 25w). Based on that alone, it might be worth getting just to attach the speakers to my other player, and to give this one to my parents! ;)

However if anyone has any other info it would be much appreciated!

Kev

I was looking for the same sort of info.

There`s an online manual there.

I got the manual a couple of days ago. They seem pretty sure you can`t change the setting. I`ve mailed the customer service telling them that I`ve moved and all my disks are region 1, but as usual with any customer service you email, I`ve not had any reply.

If your really stuck you could always return it and get the Venturer STS21 from Tescos for £20 more. There are hacks for it in the forum.

I got the manual but that seems to be based on an R1 player anyway! I would presume that the player being sold by Safeway is either R2 or has been made multi-region.

Given a notice I saw in the window of my local Safeway a few weeks ago (a DVD player they were selling was recalled due to having a European plug fitting as opposed to a UK one, and as such being illegal) it wouldn`t surprise me if they`ve got a job lot on the cheap from the USofA and hacked them.

Maybe.

Perhaps.

Or something.

Hello

The HT500 from Safeway is set to Region 2 UK

I have called Lenoxx in the USA and spoke to an engineer
mentioning that the UK is helping to fight Al Quaida so as
a sign of friendship he should tell me how to make my system
multi region.

In the interests of good relations given the coming war with Iraq
here are the details:

Open The DVD Door

Press Language Button Once

Press Return 3 times

You will then see the reion code 2 on screen

Use your up and down arrows to select the region you want

He thinks 00 or 255 is multi region, he`s never tried to make it
multi region.

If this does not work then at least you can change regions as and when needed and change them back again as required.

I COULD KISS YOU!!

Well, not really, but I am very grateful! I literally got back from Safeway having bought one of these (the sales assistant claimed someone on Ebay was selling codes for £2 to unlock them. Previous searching had shown that these were for different models, but he claimed they worked and if not, I take it back for a full refund!)

Anyway I have tested VCDs and SVCDs and both seem to work fine. As does region1 stuff with the code set to 0. Not sure on RCE though!

Thanks again!!!

Kev

I have reprogrammed mine to Kevin, This is the ONLY place on the
internet to report the solution for the HT500.

I think that when I spoke to the engineer he realised that without
the help of British troops in Iraq Amercian forces would be doomed
hence his easy surrender of the information.

Ps I will be around for my kiss later, no tongues though.

So folks can you confirm that if I go down to my local Safeway store this morning and pick up one of these Systems.

By the afternoon I could be playing Multiregion DVD,MP3,VCD,MPEG,SVCD and with Dolby 5.1 sound all for 129

Can you copy DVD to VHS ??

All sounds too good to be true.

I can`t find any more information on these systems anywhere on the net ?

I`m on my way to buy mine in a minute.

I did hear back from Lennox in the end, but my answer was `there`s no way to hack the system (unless you look on the internet where the hack is posted)`

At least this gives some consolation to George`s `Daddy had a war, I want one too` upcoming conflict.

I can confirm that for £129 you get multiregion DVD, MP3, VCD, SVCD and with Dolby 5.1 sound. However, not sure on the macrovision!! And what do you mean by "MPEG" playback?

Kev

PS You *HAVE* been to the Lenoxx website, as posted earlier in this thread, right? The manual (albeit for the R1 version) is available there!
