Can anybody tell me what the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R is? My girlfriends dad is looking into buying a DVD Recorder and is unsure what the difference is and he doesn`t wantt to get caught short and have a player that won`t play anything!?
Thank you for any help

Panasonic recorders use the - format and Philips recorders use the + format. You can not use one with the other.
As far as I am aware the Philips + format is compatable with more DVD players.

I use Panasonic recorders and have found the recordings to be compatible with most modern machines. The media costs 44p !

I did also have a play with the Philips +R machines but at the time the media was rather expensive. I believe it has dropped in price now.

All I can say is that the Panasonics are fantastic to use and the build quality excellent. Hope this helps.

P.S. You can get the Panasonic for £399 if you shop around.
