Can a home DVD player be connected to a PC ?

what do you wanna do with it. If you have a TV input on your graphics card then yes you can.

As i have done it with a VCR and My DVD recorder. I have tranferred movies from vcr to pc and PC to DVD.

You`ll lose quality due to the analogue conversion.

A far better method is to get a DVD-ROM drive and rip the contents of your DVD, using a tool like DVD Decrypter. That way, you can make loss-free digital transfers. There`s plenty of information on this at sites like http://www.vcdhelp.com
