I`ll bet that the XR is from comet. If so this must be an excuse for comet to advertise this player as `exclusive to comet` - ref `What Hi fi and video` dec00. It clearly isn`t (even though its just about impossible to get it anywhere else) if you look at any photo of it in comets advertising material the player clearly has the model number XD on it.

In summary, provided you haven`t fallen asleep, its exactly the same and the hack will work - just make sure you follow the sage advice of Jimbo.

On another point what has orac got against the XD ? If you`re reading this orac then you obviously just couldn`t resist reading more threads about this great player. Admit it - you want one don`t you...... Wharfie starting to show its limitations isnt it.........

The answer to the XR or XD question is really really simple.

ITS A TYPO!

And yes the hack will work!
Only the N should change in the model number, thats the colour code!

>"just make sure you follow the sage advice of Jimbo."
OO, sage advice? I`m getting all big-headed now! lol

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!

Asked this question myself recently. Comet typo is the answer. You have no worries in buying an XD-DV370. Mine came already upgraded to multiregion and the hack works no problem.

Yes, the spec is correct, there IS NO 5.1 outputs on the Aiwa!
It has Dolby Digital and DTS outputs via co-ax and optical connections.

If you want a 5.1 decoder, buy an LG 3350, but this is at the expense of CDR VCD playback.
