through a 1 metre scart lead my ntsc films play in colour but through a 10 metre lead with a scart to 3 pin (1 video 2 audio) connector on each end plays in black and white, anything i can do without spending £40 for a 10 metre scart lead.
thanx in advance

When you say a SCART to 3 pin (S-video), are you talking about from DVD to TV or the other way around (there is a difference as the signal is mono-directional : i.e. you need to make sure you have a lead that is FROM S-Video TO SCART, for example)

The black and white picture is a symptom of a TV not being capable of accepting an S-video picture : you may need to make a change in your TV setup menu.

The length of the cable is irrelevant :-)

The Sony will output only a pure NTSC signal on NTSC discs rather than a PAL50/60 one.

If you have no joy getting it to work by configuring your player and TV to output and accept an S-Video signal respectively, then your only option is to use RGB which will mean another new lead, I`m afraid.

What sort of TV are you using and how old is it? Most modern TVs will support at least one type of NTSC but some will only work using their RGB Scart input.

the tv`s a philips 28inch widescreen which is about two years old, it has two scarts at back (only one works in colour) and one at side which has a svhs input.
