Which dvd player out of these 4 is best?

Thomas Reid (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 3rd August 2002, 13:00

I have been looking around for a dvd player for a while. It must not cost more then £150 and i want it to have a decent picture and sound qul, be multi regional, play mp3, vcd and svcd.

I would also like the player to be able to play standard mpgs burned to a cd (vcd not written in the correct format) and it i wood like 2 b able to upgrade its firmware with a cdr. the last 2 are not 100% essential but it would b nice if it was possible.

The dvd players which i have found 2 b the best in my price range so far r:

scan 2500
Kiiro 838d
Cyberhome ADL528
Yelo 800DVD

Could anyone tell me which out of all these is the best? If anyone has any experences of using any of these machines could u also let me know. Also if anone thinks there is a better dvd player that does all the things i want it to do could u let me know.

I`m sure if you look around you might find various reviews of these machines, - I`m however not familiar with any of them, but just quick mention of the Sony 700 dvd player from richer sounds at £199 Multi region (which they say is £250 off the retail price when it was 1st released ) check out their website for others as well - I Noticed that one in the advert placed in this months What Hi-Fi magazine.

ok i know its £200 but seems pretty good buy .... please note only available in store - not ONLINE.

RICHER SOUNDS SEEMINGLY USE TRIDEK CHIPS FOR DISABLING THE REGIONS - IF YOU CHECK THIS SITE IT WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT EACH CHIP DOES FOR EACH MACHINE, ie: on the JVC machines it disables macro on certain ones, same with certain SONY machines too, I haven`t confirmed with Richer Sounds to see if this is correct, I just saw it mentioned in an earlier posting
