SERIOUSLY THIS TIME!! VCD/CDR/CDRW/MP3 AND DVD WITH MULTI REGION but it aint the 3350

Jimbo :oÞ (Elite Donator) posted this on Friday, 17th November 2000, 19:46

Well, actually it IS an LG (probably 3350) with VCD playback, under the AIWA badge.

£199 at Comet, the AIWA 370 is MP3 CDR etc compatible indcluding VCD.

Imagine my surprise after buying it that it started VERY similar to a 3350?
So I tried it....IT WORKED!!!
Remember.(using the AIWA remote)

PAUSE
314159
(enter region ... "0" will do all regions)
PAUSE again
POWER OFF..wait for a second or two
POWER ON

AND THATS IT!! YEEEEEHAAAAAAAA!!
ALL OF THE ABOVE FOR £200!!

Dukey, if you read this posting, THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU
THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU
THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU
THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

I would NEVER have gone to Comet if ya hadn`t said! :)
It doesn`t disable Macro, but at £200 I`ll buy an inline decoder!!

(and its got a PAL/NTSC switch.. AND it scans at 100x normal speed!??!)

AIWA 370 ROCKS EVEN MORE THAN DUKEY`S HITACHI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(but I owe him big style! :) )

This sounds very similar to the LG Jimbo. Does it have some of the other firmware features like stored disc preferences and scene bookmarking?

Does it come with an integrated dolby digital decoder?

It`s got digital and co-ax out for dolby digital.. I dunno about the bookmarking, cause I aint tried it yet!!
It DEFINITELY is an LG, I recognise the graphics and menu`s.
Plus the hack worked.
I can confirm it has played three R1 and two R2 discs with no probs so far, handled four of my "cdr" DVD`s and a couple of audio CD`s.. only the MP3 disc to burn and try now!! :)

AIWA 370 ROCKS MUCH MORE THAN DUKEY`s HITACHI 505!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bastards! You can pick-up the Aiwa online for £170, that`s £60 cheaper than I paid for my LG.

It is looking more and more like Techtronics have ripped me off for a multi-region upgrade that was there all along.

Before you rush out and go nuts with Techtronics Troll, remember that some 3350`s and other earlier LG`s dont seem to accept that code.

And the brand name is AIWA, remember. It`s a "clone", therefore usually cheaper.
The LG 3350 with my store is currently £249, so you haven`t been ripped as hard as you think...let down by LG making a clone machine perhaps..especially one that DOES do VCD.

Looks like dukey was right on that one.. must be something simple like firmware, `cause this AIWA is taking everything I`m throwing at it and screaming for more!!

BAD POINTS: takes ages to load, and has a lot of disc noise when loading. The power button is in a daft place on the remote too, open/close is in the usual power position.

GOOD POINTS: fantastic picture..great audio..almost no disc noise after load.. and won`t stop playing my discs!! ALL OF EM!! lol

final point for Troll... the only wierd thing I`ve found for this being a clone is my 2280 remote doesn`t work on it, but then thats just a simple case of changing remote codes, is it not?

AIWA 370 ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well £200 seems a lot considering i can get Daewoo`s that play

mp3`s-vcd`s-dvd`s-cdr`s-cdrw`s-mpeg1 and mpeg2 disks which is region free and macro free.

£149.

oh well i guess i`ll buy 51quid worth of dvd`s.

It just seems very suspicious that the "exclusive" Multimod Techtronics claim to have installed in my player uses exactly the same remote hack as these off-the-shelf players.

Additionally, when my player arrived it was set to Region 2 only. I would have thought a multiregion player would be delivered as exactly that.

Don`t get me wrong, I love my player, but if Techtronics are pulling a fast one I am gonna go ape!

Sounds like the aiwa must have an updated version of the LG firmware then in order to play VCDs. Do you get a different icon when load a VCD?

No Troll, the standard icon on the top left appears with VCD instead of DVD, then it just sits there in stop mode waiting for play to be pressed.

It does seem to have one annoying flaw.
During certain chapter changes (I`m also assuming it`s when the layer changes happen) it cuts out the signal to the TV..i.e. the TV goes blank, then the AV OSD on the telly reappears.

It`s not a telly problem, and the wierd thing is..if you scan back to that point then play again, it`s fine!!
It`s only really happened with the R1 "Three Kings" so far, but I`ll post if it happens with anymore.

And lost all credibility Dukey old bean?
( ::whispers:: hitachi lost all credibilty in the trade when they cloned the samsung....)

AIWA 370 ROCKS!!!!!!!!

Troll.. I aint tryin` to wind you up or anything..but thats now the 3350 in my store, the Aiwa 370 I purchased, Slim and Pyramid all have this hack working.

Sorry mate, but your 3350 might have been an earlier firmware that wouldn`t allow it to work, and is your macro disabled?
Mine isn`t, so that could tell ya too.

(for Slim and Pyramid`s answers check the original "want mp3" etc posting.)

Oh, and the earlier posting on the Daewoo? Thats the company who pulled out of the electrical sector around a year ago, innit? ::grin::

AIWA 370 ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
