Sony DVD players in general require a hardware mod

John Savage (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 14th November 2000, 14:28

Hi

This is a public service message blah blah :)

All Sony dvd players require a hardware modification to play all regions.

Hopefully people will search through the archives and find this before they post on here :) heh

John,

Hope you can help. Tried looking through archives and found nothing about following. I have a Sony DVP S300, purchased in the US when I lived there. I want to be able to play region 2 (?) DVDs, since it is not always easy to get region 1 NTSC from the UK. I thought it involved a hardware mod - adding or changing resistor values, but cannot find any relevany info. Some months ago before coming back to UK I found the details, but did not bookmark the site. Any ideas?

Steve
