I have bought one of these players today. as far as i can tell it is hackable, but some sites say it need the firmware updating. dont know anymore than this. some info from people who can help would be appreciated :)

Try this,
Here`s the code that makes it region free:

open the tray
then press 349734
then select 0

The above steps will make it region free, substitute 0 with 1, 2 to make it a region 1 or region 2 player.

I don`t mean to be stupid but what do you mean by macro i too have just bought one of hese cheap machines,and was pleased to see the hack.

Macro is short for Macrovision it is a form of copy protection. On DVD discs, it prevents you from copying to VHS etc.

This means that it should play disks from anyware in the world. Don`t worry about it its fine. How ever keep the sequence of numbers in a safe place, whilst this does work i don`t know if u will have to change the region if u use an RCE disk. I`ll keep u posted on that one. Either way theres no big problem........apart from the lack of vcd support that is
