Hay fever time !!!

C(.)(.)PS89 (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 7th June 2007, 14:14

Been getting for a couple of weeks now and my nose is red and very sore to touch, how can I be allergic to the summer ???

I`ve had it since I was a wee ladie and every year its the same.
Every year I tell myself that I must get on the local honey but never get around to getting some .

Anybody else get it ?

ooooo yes. Since I was about 4, when my head almost exploded after a trip to a local field...on a steaming hot Summer`s day, in long grass...

Very bright sunlight seems to kick it off nowadays, rather than your actual pollen and s***e, but living in London doesn`t help with the pollution and that.

I`m a great fan of Boots generic `Value` Loratadine tablets at 98p for 7. Same drug as Claritin, but a hell of a lot cheaper.

Local honeycomb would be better than just honey if you can get it, but even thenm as a homeopathic thing, it needs to be eaten well before the season hits and continued through. Your teeth will probably fall out :-).

(raw onion is supposed to help as well if you`re into hippy cures - but not sure whether you eat it or shove it up your arse)

Yep. Local honey does help but not a complete cure. I use 1 a day Loratadine. these come in packs of 30 for about £4

take a look here you can get them cheaper.

I used to get it real bad, but haven`t suffered at all for the past 4 years at least, so hopefully I`ve "grown out of it" (touch wood)

I used to use Beconase nasal spray. (or throat spray - can`t remember!)

Both my boys suffer from it, and one of them is asthmatic, so it`s not much fun. They both eat local honey and it doesn`t seem to make any difference. :( (I give them liquid Piriton)

Suffering big time at the moment. As a contacts wearer it isnt fun at all.

Currently sitting at my desk with tissue wedged up the nostrils - doesnt look pretty but stops me sniffing and sneezing. Colleague counted the sneezes the other day, an incredible 28 in less than 20 minutes.

Each sneeze whispers the words "Kill me, kill me please"

Last weekend was a nightmare for me....so ended up with the Sainsburys Loratadeine (same as Clarityn)...then had to have a boost with the Benadryl Plus :D

I don`t suffer from it,but I just spent a weekend with someone who does.
Walking around Florence sneezing his f***ing head off.
God knows how he felt, but he made me want to throw him off the Ponte Vecchio...
Ann...achoo...oying...achoo...c...chooo....unt... >:(
One of those people who, rather than just sneeze the once and get it over with, would rather do six in rapid-fire fashion. >:( >:(
I know he can`t help it.
I don`t care though,I can`t help that either.

Bowfer - unless you suffer from it its difficult to understand.
My Mrs says I drive her crazy when I start sneezing and it doesn`t stop for 20 mins...its really not something you can control when it starts...but you can at least try taking drugs for it (anti-histimines at least ;))

What I find strange about it is, we were lived in fields and that long before we had houses and cars so how can we be allergic to pollen ....

The only thing I can put it down to is that we don`t eat enough local produce , turn the clock back a few decades and we would grown all are own vegetables instead of popping down the supermarket and buying runner beans produced in Kenya !

I can remember as a kid lying awake in my bedroom while all the other kids were out playing with my eyes itching like crazy and my nose streaming snot like a tap .

I used to take a Medicine called Finnegan I think and that used to knock me out !
When I was a bit older I used to get a jab in the top of my butt called Kenelog , the needle on this bad boy was massive .......but lasted all summer but being a steroid it can`t be good for you.

I thought to myself homoeopathy ... flower remedies .... got to be the one ... didn`t do it for me !
