Hello,

Well, little old me is a poor student, with the need for gratuitous watching of DVD`s, can anyone recommend me a good player that is reasonably cheap? I don`t want to break the bank...

I bought a Samsung unit as a result of a Woolworths special offer in mid-summer. Its worth looking out for such deals if you are not in a rush. However, this is only the start of a slippery slope that could break the bank as you could get hooked on building up a DVD disk collection!

Now that the firmware issues have been resolved (and its still hackable via a remote) I`d recommend the Samsung 709 from anywhere but Richer Sounds. Reason being they source theirs from Europe and wont play discs like The Matrix.

Yep - a Mate of mine also took advantage of the Woolie`s deal on the Sammie over the summer and hasn`t looked back. Mind you, I do agree with Yyves on the "Cash Black Hole" statement.....

"I`m only going to get the player - it`s all I`m interested in", I seem to remember telling my wife..... erm.....


Mind you - as a student you`ll have an understanding bank manager, shurely? :)
