Cardboard `snapper` cases - a thought for lunchtime

Alan Titherington (Reviewer) posted this on Thursday, 28th June 2001, 13:08

Is it just me being paranoid or do all retailers feel they need to run a pen / pencil / sharp instrument (probably to dispense with any cellophane wrapping) along the front of the DVD cover where the plastic ends and the cardboard begins? Perhaps I should get out more often, but I`m constantly looking for a box that hasn`t been drawn on / scored in some way. Oh well - off to the HMV Sale to find things I don`t really want but will still end up buying anyway - "as it`s cheap"

The new all cardboard cases are even worse - I won`t buy the Untouchables because of the box - it`s a piece of junk!

Alan, it`s more to do with the way they`re packed, I suspect.

I remember in my supermarket days that opening a case of tea-bags with a knife ended up with about 10 ruined boxes, as the knife would invariable cut through the cellophane.

I reckon the same rule applies with DVDs too !

Just my tuppence`s worth anyhoo....

While were on the subject of these pieces of crap, can anyone tell me where you can buy replacement plastic sections. I`m sick of opening a brand new box to find the centre section in bits rattling around inside along with the disc.

A well spent tuppence worth clayts.....I just wish people would be more careful with the handling of DVDs..especially when placing them `carefully` back in their boxes when purchased. I`ve spent a considerable amount of time trying to get rid of heavy fingerprints off a new disc, to be told when I notice a little mishandling, that `it`s a DVD, it can take it`.

It`s also a well-known fact that Blockbusters clean their returned DVDs with a scouring-pad ;-)

Yeah, I could do with some of those extra cases. Anybody out there got any ideas?

Try yer local "pound" shop - five for a quid seems to be the word on the street. HMV charge five for a fiver...
