Telesales Calls - bit annoyed???

Neiliboy (Elite) posted this on Friday, 11th March 2005, 15:58

I`ve had numerous telesales calls on both my phonelines now from `*******` - part of the ******** outfit. ( Im not going to do them the service of advertising for them on here) Despite being registered with TPS.

I`m never rude to call centre staff as i`ve had to do that job and even now part of my job is cold calling but i went to tell the woman just now `im still in a contract with BT` and she hung up straight away! The cheek of it.

If i actually complain to TPS does anyone know the consequences for them?

Neil

ive registered with the TPS and have found that the slags have started calling my mobile.

That f***ing blokes voice on that `hi were trying to give you a prize` message........grrr.....If i ever met him i`d punch his f***ing larynx out (had a call at 12.30 last night, hence the anger "OMG!! Whos calling my mob at this time? Someone must be dead?!?!").

After getting several calls through out the day my mum got one at about 8 at night. She has been waiting for a call about her sister who had had a stroke.

"Hello Mrs Bruce, my name is Maria and I am from blah blah blah"

My mum. "Hello Maria. Now f*** off." Click burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
She is not normally like that so she must have been at the end of her teather.

Another time that comes to mind.

It`s the day of my dads funerel. I am round at my mums. The same cold caller called twice and my mum just said he was not in. On the third time when my mum was explaining he was still not in and would not be for a while ( she did not want to say he was dead) I took the phone off my mum who was getting upset and explained to the girl that Pete would not be comming to the phone as he was going to be f***ing cremated in a couple of hours so please don`t call back. Mean I know. But i think she got the mesage.

All the best,

Yes but, the telesales operator is not aware of your problems and is only doing the job that they`ve been asked to do. What I tend to do is pick up the receiver, don`t talk just listen. If it stays quiet for more than 5 seconds I replace the receiver. If the person at the other end says something and I realise it`s telesales I replace the receiver. If it`s someone important, they will call you back. No anger required. What happens if someone gets a wrong number? Do you tell them to feck off?

I knew a girl at college who did telesales for a double glazing company for a bit of pin money, part time.

She called my house, totally at random, and i proceeded to totally freak her out by revealing all kinds of info about her. Not one of my proudest moments, but it was hilarious at the time.

And she gave me a right whack, when I revealed it was me (much later ;)).

Someone with the wrong number does not usually try to sell you something. You may be happy to waste your time hanging on and running after these people, but my mum, who is getting on now is not. as i said she is not normally like that but when you tell them you are not interested and they carry on regardless and she is waiting on news on her very ill sister, then she has the right to tell them to f*** off imho. Would you be happy to have a door to door sales man continually knock on your door even though you have told them once you are not interested?

I do believe there was a case recently with Ken Livingstone and a nazi concetration camp guard.

Cold callers are very often rude. You polietly tell them you are not interested and the phone just goes dead.

I should add she is on the TPS so she should not be getting the calls.

We keep getting phone calls for the people who used to live here ,some bloke with a who does not speak good english asking to speak to them ,i lost count of how many times I tried to explain they moved ect ,and still he calls :/ rediculous times of the night too

The worst calls are the automated ones ,you either get a disembodies voice or it cuts off as you answer ,how the hell can you stop these ? We went ex directory and registered with telephone preference AND banned withheld numbers and still they get through ???? even though the number is withheld ??? I think we should all refuse to pay our telephone bills untill the bl**dy phone companies get their act together and do summit about it ,hell the make enough money from us >:(

A girl I knew did that. I could tell it was her by her voice straight away, and proceeded to have a five minute conversation with her. She tried to persuade me to let her supervisor call me back so she could get some commission, but there was no way I was going to get into that.

Oh, and I did telesales for about 3 weeks when I was sixteen, and the job is awful. Sat in a tiny room, without air conditioning, with about 15 other people. It was s***e, and every night I`d go home with an awful headache. I hated it, and would never do it again in a million years.

Oh my God, Bear is driving! How can that be?
