Personally i really liked it. Its very character drive, and you have to be concentrating because it jumps around a lot from person to person and situation to situation. If you hated English Patient/Thin red line, then you may not like magnolia, but if you like to be able to think about a film magnolia is worth it. Try renting it first, then if you hate it you haven`t wasted tons of money, and if you really love it then you won`t mind buying it.

Watch this film at your peril, I was going to suggest only ever watching this if you were ever bored out of your skull but this would just make it worse.

Save yourself the renting fee, buy some paint and watch it dry ;-)

In general, people hate it. Frankly, I shall completely withold judgement on whether it is `any good` as to say so seems to be beside the point. Should you buy it? Um, definitely not if you haven`t seen it, rent it and see if it takes your fancy, odds are it won`t but its your call. Suffice to say the most mediated response is that it is both interesting AND boring. Regardless, Philip Baker Hall is ace.

Whoops... I just can`t help myself.

Well, I hate the english Patient, and thought The thin Red line was OK, but Love Magnolia, saw it at the cinema and didn`t want the film to end. Afterwards I thought and still think it`s one of the best film I have ever seen i my life. Entertaining like toy story? No, but you`ll have to appreciate cinema and the attension of Character development to enjoy the film. I have the Region 1 version, much better packaging then R2. It`s like the box for Fight Club with and 3D Magnolia Flower at the front cover.

It`s not your typical Hollywood mindless film where boy falls in love with girl or clear bad guys against Good guys story. Some people will hate it, I saw people actually walk out on the film in the cinema. But Those people don`t understand what the director was trying to achieve with this movie and don`t understand it. They see it as no plot and boring, they are normally the type who are into action movies or romantic comedies, something that doesn`t work their mind. I love action movies and romantic comedies too but a film like this makes you realise what a kind of crap the cinemas are filled with. Films like Final destination are entertaining but it`s awful, you know whos going to die and when.

But it`s all a matter of opinion and preference, rent it first. Get home, turn off the light and hang up the phone. Prepare to be either gripped or bored by the film for the next 3 hours and 10 minutes of your life.
