what a f**kin joke!!!!!!!

again uk dvd owners are stitched up with news of T2: ultimate edit being put back to october. its disgusting that we have to wait approx 1 year after thr R1s release for arguably the `biggest` release ever! its about time companies bucked-up their ideas and started giving us better release dates. i know about the differnce in time for cinema releases but surely there could still be better release schedules, especially for back-catalogue titles. surely the authorities realise that this is just giving us more incentive to buy R1 discs.......

It happened with games, people were sick of waiting years(some games took that long. You should know better than me) for the release. People either imported and chipped their machines or us crafty chinese would pirate them. The snes and megadrive were no match :) you can see the state of playstation games, you can`t really avoid them any more. Same for vcds, old Joe ripping the dvd then copying onto vcds, flogging them off for a few quid. Soon enough they`ll be DVDs.......Oh, am I starting to rant a bit? :-}

Well if anyone wants to know (or doesn`t know, depending on whether you follow things like that) , Apple Mac have released the first home DVD-ram drive and software. Not avaliable seperate from the set up, but they have released the G4 (or was it G5, what was the last one? well it`s the next step up as far as I know). It`s retailing for around $4,000 in the US at the moment. You may say that`s a expensive kit, but the DVD-ram drive alone, seperate costed more than that when it was released. It comes with the software to produce and edit footage.
The DVD-roms to record onto at the present cost around £10-20 each for around 5 gig (single layer, single sided) each, but it has been dictated by some big wig from a big wig company that prices will fall by the end of the year, around a quid each was quoted.
The current discs do in fact cost less than a pound to prduce, but the reason for the high price by companies is to recoup the cost of the machiney to press the discs, and the production budgets of the content of DVDs.
Possibly not as reliable as people in the know, but hope it helps at least someone, so they can pursue more into this subject and p*** me off with accurate information. THANK YOU, youv`e been a great audience. :-D
