Deciding to make Exorcist IV was stupid enough. :)

Not really. In my mind, it being a prequel, if pulled off correctly it could be a successful and worthy addition to the series, and perhaps erase memory of the second and third instalments. I especially had faith in Schrader, but now some stuck-up studio executive has made the decision to give the talented guy the boot, perhaps `Exorcist IV` will indeed play out as you predict, Rob.

The reason they sacked him was they did not like his cut of the flim and wanted more of a gore pic instead of thiller like the first one.
Schrader wanted to give the pic a back to the orgin feel and not all blood and guts.
so the money men said no way

Legion (the book) was far better than the third film, it was more of a psychological thriller rather than a horror film, and it was a shame that it didn`t come across well in the movie.

The second film was complete s***e, even when it was the directors cut. I can`t see the point in a fourth one, because there`s never been a horror film where the prequel to the original has ever been good.
