Where`s the cheapest place to buy (not the uprights though).
Any help appreciated.

Why not the uprights? The best Dyson of the lot is the DCO3.

Because the Misses don`t like them, and if one is purchased
she won`t be touching it. So who will vac round my feet when
I`m on the net !!!

We have one of the small ones (not the uprights) and its crap tbh. It doesn`t pick up the dog hairs, and when it does they wrap around the roller in 1 minute. So its hoover for a minute, spend another 5 removing the hairs, and so on. And this thing was SUPPOSED to be for hairy pets ffs!

The upright we had before was far better.

and while we`re on the subject.....http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/menu2.asp?subdept=vacs&specials=vacs....I`m interested in getting a vacuum/carpet washer. Has anyone got any recommendations? Either that, or I`ll have to see what happens if I steam clean them....or, as a last resort, buy new carpets :-(.

Get someone in to clean the carpets. Lot less hassle than buying some big bulky thing which your only going to use every few years.
P.S. Our (upright)Dyson we`ve had for about 6 years now and its been great - still going strong(mind you it wasn`t made by slave labour which might have something to do with it).
Re pet hairs - the non-upright Dyson won`t have the brush bit to pick up the hairs will it?

One of the attachments has that, however the thing is spun round using air and not a belt, so it doesnt spin most of the time. And when it does it quickly gets wrapped up in hairs after which it refuses to spin.

Useless thing!

This reminds me of that scene in Bio-Dome where Bud and Doyle are shaving this pooch with disposable razors and loads of shaving foam!!

Shave poochy-poochy, shave poochy-poochy!!
