Can anybody advise why the Living Daylights Bond film doesn`t appear to be on general release yet, or if it is where I can get hold of it?! It appears to only be available in the full box set!

I`d heard it was because Sam Neil doesn`t want his test-screenings (as one of the candidates to play Bond in the documentary) to be part of the DVD. I`m not sure whether that rumour`s true or not TBH, although I`d certainly believe it as Neil is known to be something of a sour-puss. It does seem a little odd that he didn`t object before now (as the original version was out ages ago), but I`m certainly going to hang on to my copy now just in case...

Being cynical, it sounds like more of a scam by MGM to force people to buy the box set if they want all of the Bond films. If that thing about Sam Neill was true, wouldn`t they have to withdraw the box set too?

You can easily get The Living Daylights from Australian retailers, by the way - unfortunately, the box art doesn`t match the UK releases. (The disc itself is R2/R4 and identical to the UK one.)

Hmmm, that`s an interesting point actually Mike as obviously the screen-tests will be on the disc in the box-set aswell. I guess you could stretch the credibility of the claim a little and say that recalling all the box-sets would simply be too much of an undertaking and so they`re unaffected by way of compromise. MGM tendering that Memo about legal issues is the only reason the rumour seemed plausible to me in the first place...

I have to say though, it`s a pretty disgraceful ploy by MGM if that`s what it actually is (surely they make enough money out of Bond already?!).

Thanks for the info Mike - can you point me in the direction of any sites that can sell Living Daylights online from Austrailian Retailers?

Mark - just being a tad lazy!! ;-)

Excellent - thanks for your help, Mike!!

They seem to be out of stock at the moment, but that`s an unbelievable price for the disc too! I`ll follow up with them to see how long it`s going to take to get hold of.

Regards

Mark.
