OT - Can`t access forums in Netscape 4.71

Microstar (Competent) posted this on Friday, 8th December 2000, 21:24

I`m writing this through IE5 - I`ve used Netscape 4.71 for months without problems, but now I can`t download the forums (since Wednesday this week). I suspect that this is a fault with the dvdreviewer site - anyone else have the same problem?

Managed to get a friend (as my NS install dissappeared with my Win2k reinstall on Monday) to check this and your right it doesn`t work in Netscape 4.7x.

I think its related to tables, as the only change I`ve made is to increase the number of threads displayed which makes the tables bigger. I`m off to track down my old installation files for NS 4.6 and see if I can recreate and fix.

Don`t worry, your not going mad.

I`d be inclined to go for the tables causing the problem. Netscape is a lot less forgiving in that respect. I was also seeing this problem over the weekend (fine now obviously as I can read and post to this thread).

There are still JavaScript errors appearing though, e.g. just opening the General forum, reading and replying to this thread gives :-

I`ve recoded the bookmarking javascript code, should work with Netscape now, does here anyway. It was caused by increasing the number of visible threads, however clearly just cutting them back down again wasn`t a workable solution.

Rich, let me know if there are any Javascript errors now. There aren`t any here.

I am using Opera 5, it is now free (with a banner ad) and is a very good browser.

It comes in download sizes of 2mb or 9mb (with java runtime).

get it at http://www.opera.com/
