So how did you get your username then?

Bill Carr (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 11th July 2002, 13:04

I`ve been meaning to post this question for sometime. Obviously, some people have used their own names, or a nickname, but i think it`d be interesting (maybe i`m just displaying my sadness here) to find out how people chose their monika.
I`ll start with my own (it`s not my real name (shock horror - a reader)). There`s a bit in "I`m Alan Partridge" where Alan is stopped by Police because he`s trying to nick a traffic cone.

Policeman : "So what`s your name?"
AP : "Bill"
Policeman : "BIll? Bill what?"
AP : hesitates "Carr. Bill ... Carr."

So there you go.

gordyffc

Gordy - short for Gordon.
ffc - Falkirk Football Club.

Simple as that.

Ever since i was 5 years old, my old primary teacher called me Westy!

Real name Dave West....or David (how conservative!), to my Mum.

Practically everyone calls me Westy - even my Store Manager.

So there...

Westy

Mr_Winky?? - everything else i usually use was already taken, and for some reason Mr Winky seemed amusing at the time. Does have its draw backs though, for some reason people don`t take me too seriously?

Roar - What people tend to call me (short for Rory) + a bit of artistic spelling.
349 - number of the house I grew up in.

Just before I registered here, someone was talking about Ian Botham`s nickname for a fellow cricket-type person who he didn`t get on with. His surname was Hunt (can`t remember his christian name) so Botham affectionately called him Issac (say it in a vaguely West Indian accent). Obviously this has no relevance to me!

I thought I better use my real name so I someone phoned the shop they would know who they are after. I have often thought it was a bit dull and I may try a few new ones to see how it feels.

All the best,

Andrew.

As you may now notice I have now taken the first step to a new identity.

I feel liberated from the constraints of my real name all ready.

Many thanks.
