Taken from the official Leeds United Website:

Leeds United have announced that manager David O`Leary, Manager of Leeds United Football Club, has left the company.
"After four successful years the pressures of some of the off-field incidents have resulted in the Company deciding that it would be beneficial for a change of manager.

"It is hoped that an announcement regarding a successor can be announced in the next few weeks.

"Leeds United would like to place on record its thanks for David`s enormous contribution over the last four years."

So the terrace boo-boys won then, due to his team becoming passionless and lacklustre in the second half of the season ? How can that be O`Leary`s fault.

If he had been sacked that would have been an unfair dismissal case, and no mistake.

Perhaps there`s more to these "off-field" incidents than we know about : any insiders on these boards who can explain what these might be (not a David Pleat kerb-crawling special, was it ?)

Risdale just said on local news `not to worry` about Rio going to Man Utd. Just to put 2 + 2 together (and probably come up with 5), O`Leary said he knows who will take over and they were already in place, and Hiddink said he had an offer from an English club. My mate (who`s a Villa fan) reckons it should be Venables, but anybody who says "if any team could form a good wall you`d think it would be the Chinese" is out of it......

I may as well be the first. I hear O`Neil is going to Leeds. As a leicester fan I take some perverse plesure from this.

All the best,

Andrew.

It is no great shock. Leeds have promised so much over the last few years but have NOTHING to show for it.

O`Leary kept rattling on about his "young team" but they are not young anymore and you can`t keep putting bad results down to inexperience.

Martin O`Neil would be a good choice. He is wasted at Celtic (I could manage them and win at least one trophy each season).
