The Mummy Returns DTS

Hi all,

Recieved my copy of this last week from Ezy dvd and have to say that r1 owners don`t know what they`re missing. Though the extras are unchanged, the dts track is simply phenomenal, with clearly deeper and cleaner bass, and more open soundstaging.
Has anyone any clue why Universal have blessed the r2/r4 versions with dts and not the r1?
Very puzzling as its usually the other way round, but the entire movie sounds awesome from start to finish. For £12.73, you really can`t go wrong. God bless Australia!!

The R1 had to fit a 5.1 French track onto the disc (aswell as the English DD5.1). So jamming a 754kbps DTS track on there aswell (considering the length of the film) would have compromised the image quality too much. They probably gave it a try actually (early press releases stated DTS sound) but you can`t get square pegs in round holes.

There hands were tied to be fair, as that particular release is destined for Canada aswell as the U.S, so a French 5.1 track was a must really (if only to avoid the petty complaints of "dual language display" campaigners!).

i`m starting to really love R4. I dunno what their DVD User Forum thing is but the discs that have their logo on are always fantastic - i figure they agreed some sort of quality standard and boy is it worthwhile. decent boxes, great discs and always very user-orientated

i want one :)

and yeah the DTS track did make a helluva difference - the DD one was OK but everything sounded a little false.

Absolute bargain £12. Got mine through yesterday, but am yet to watch it.
What`s more, according to Amazon, it`s not released R2 until Dec 5.
Cheap & early.

Bonza Mate. Throw another shrimp on the barby. Get some tinnies in.
