Monty python and another DVD re-release damn-it !!!

First they bring out a crap version of life of brian , and then re-release it remastered with extras and now it looks like a meaning of life special edition is on the way . This p***es me off , if you buy a dvd you want the best version around and you should`nt have to buy it again !!?!

on the bbfc website there is under recent decisions a meaning of life dvd extra which means a new dvd is coming out , and that means every one who bought the meaning of life on dvd , will have a inferior version very soon.

As a very big fan of this film i will probobly buy this new version if the extras are good , but i still feel annoyed as this has happened before(dvds like the rock and die hard 3 were re-released onto better disks) and will happen again.

Improvement is a fact of life and we have to face the facts that things do get better as time goes on. Technology is updated all the time. Im sure in a few years, there will be another more better version of this dvd. Thats just the way life works. You have the simple dvd at first but as authoring technologies become bigger and better, you will get better dvds. As long as theres not a new version every year, I welcome this improvement. I would love to see a better version of my favourite film as im sure will you. Older versions which you have enjoyed and used, can be sold or discarded. One thing you will notice about re releases, they are almost never full price.

What annoys me is that they have not long released the box set, this I would have though should have had the best features. Still it just means another disk in my large collection of Python...

although unsure about the MOL, the reason there was a new version of LOB was due to the rights changing hands i believe (and still iirc its nowhere near as good as the excellent Criterion version)

If your R1 enabled there is a release date for the new MOL 2nd of septmeber, with (hopefully) these extras
Eric Idle introduction; Commentary; Deleted Scenes; "The Meaning of Making the Meaning of Life" Featurette; "the Songs" Featurette; "Snipped Bits" Featurette; Un Film de John Cleese; "Songs Unsung" Featurette & "Education Tips" Featurette; "Fish" Featurette / "Re-mastering a Masterpice" Featurette; "Song and Dance" Featurette / Virtual Reunion & Selling the Meaning of Life
I for one am really looking forward to this (although i also gave in and bought the barebones version not that long ago)

You can get all of the TV series DVDs from region 1 (I couldn`t wait for the BBC so I did), but there`s still no news on the full series being released in region 2.

This was a big incentive to get a multi-region player (besides cheap region 4s). I am unconvinced that the region 2 version of these (if it happens) will be any better.
