Simpsons S2 Cuts?

DazMack1979 (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 27th July 2002, 12:33

Just sat down to watch `Bart The Daredevil` on the R2 boxset and realised they`ve snipped out the scene where Homer falls down the cliff strapped to the ambulance stretcher! I don`t quite understand why this has been done - OK so Sky don`t show it but the BBC episodes have been pretty much uncut so far.

Anyone know of any other editing thats been done? More importantly, is the R1 boxset uncut? Grumble grumble... We`re liable to see heaps chopped out if they carry on like this.

:o(

The episode your refering to is called Bart the Devil was not cut out by the BBFC, if it has been cut, it must of been made by 20th Century Fox (remember Predator?)

The BBFC have however cut out 15 seconds from the episode called Simpson and Delilah due to sexual content, which were required for a U clasification. Reclassification policy does not permit two differently rated versions of works.

That`s a great shame. I know about the Sky/BBC cuts, but I was led to believe that all of the video and DVD releases were uncut.

At the end of the day, The Simpsons is an adult programme and shouldn`t be censored down to the level of a U certificate.

Do these cuts apply to the R1 boxset as well?

neh neh neh neh neh neh I hold up my region 1 copy high in the sky. I dont really understand why people on this site bought the region 2 version as it was clear that the region 1 version, with the £1 off voucher on the bargains forum, at £21.99 was the cheapest price anywhere.

Because the R2 version came out 3 weeks earlier

DVD compare say it is only 15 seconds of a commentary...not exactly essential viewing IMO. I`ve watched all 22 commentaries and in that particular episode I didn`t notice anything had been cut so I don`t really care about that. The daredevil episode wasn`t cut either.
And £10 more is probably worth it to watch it 3 weeks earlier because, after all, its the Simpsons :)
