Page 1 of Infolithium batteries

The battery on my Sony Cybershot was not taking a charge and after seeing the horrific price of a replacement (NP FC 10) at Jessops - £52.99!!! - I had a look on Ebay.

Managed to get 2 x infolithium batteries, which do show the power remaining in the camera display, a mains charger with a car lighter adapter for less than £9 post paid China and excellent communications and it all took 5 days to arrive over the Christmas holiday = the bargain bit :D

So I reckon Jessops would be about £110 minimum for items to do the same job.

Is this a record??

I am experimenting on a forced discharge of the `duff` battery with a resistor to see if I can coax it back to life. I am loathe to just chuck it!

I had the same expeience - wanted a spare camcorder battery for holiday and the price of Sony replacements (whether from Jessops or other places) was unreal (£70+ was about the best I could find).

I ended up buying one from a China Ebay listing (I was a bit worried at the time) but 7 months later everything is still going fine. I paid about £22 for TWO batteries which hold about 50% more charge than the original Sony ones !

The only drawback was that the batteries can`t be charged from the camera (but they supply a mains charger with UK adapter) and also I need a small cable when using the battery on the camcorder (between the camcorder and battery); but these were explained at the outset and are not a problem for me.

I bought a P200 year or so back and got a spare genuine Sony battery for about a tenner or so from ebay. Similar figures as you from Jessops etc. :/

Most batteries on ebay are fake and are lower powered than advertised. Be careful if you want to avoid fires at home.

Jessops are rip off merchants. Can`t believe they can get away with it, but they do.

Definitely not a fake.

The batteries I got are not fake as they don`t claim to be Sony but they do both appear to work.

If anyone can suggest how a retailer can justify £52.99 for one little infolithium battery, I`d like to hear. Personally, I think it smacks of blatant profiteering but I stand to be corrected.

Come on, Jessops, if you`re hard enough :B

Mine is real, hold their charge well and correctly report the time remaining in minutes. :)
