Er no they are not. I got of these bikes for £49 over three years ago and have cycled hundreds of miles on it. On several occasions I cycled over ten miles in a day and the bike is still outside in fine condition and continues to serve me well.

It`s a good solid bike and a great bargain for the price. This promo from them has been posted on BB before a few times and generally people seem to agree they are OK. Do a search and see if you can find more.

Sorry if you`ve had problems with them, but I must say I haven`t and it`s been one of my better bargains. (Along with the cheap Dell PCs!)

Apart from that they offer a very good returns policy if you`re not happy with them so you can`t lose anyway.

I`m beginning to sound like one of their employees! I should be on commission! :)

i think they are not up to much either yes they are of sturdy build but the gear system is useless the sprockets are very thin and cheap and the twist grip gear change is also very poor for £99 for two you will get what you paid for if they are for teenagers they will not last the course im sorry to say

They are absolute junk - you may be able to do a few hundred road miles on them and yes, they will last if looked after but they are NOT a mountain bike and will fall apart if used off road.

Every component on them is of the cheapest possible build quality and the gears are about 15 years out of date.

If you need a bike to cycle to work on along roads they will be o.k....if you want a bike you can use for what it was designed for (i.e - off road riding) don`t bother.

As I posted in an earlier thread on these, you can buy a decent bike from Halfords or from the adverts in mtb mags for very good prices when they are selling last years models.

Halfords had a great bike in there a month or two ago,,,I think it was a Carrera Kraken.

I have a Carrera mtb that I bought in 1996 and has been used for some pretty hard off roading and downhill biking....and it still virtually as good as new with all the original parts.

And no, I don`t work for Halfords but did work in a bike shop for a while so do know what I`m talking about when it comes to bikes.

Yep teenagers will break anything. ;)

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

Discussed here. The bit about credit card fraud on the second page is interesting.

All the best,

Dr 42%er.

It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....
