I`d be wary of this Goodmans set. I bought one earlier this year and had to return it because of poor sound quality. The DAB sound was muddy (lacking treble), unlike any of my other DAB radios. Comparing Radio 1 on DAB to Radio 1 on FM showed the former to be unlistenable. Two friends who bought this set also report the DAB sound quality is poor.

The operation of this machine was also awkward, with fiddly buttons to move between stored stations (no preset buttons on either FM or DAB).

I was able to return my GSR80 to Empire Direct for a full refund because of the poor sound quality. Keep the receipt in case you can`t stand the muddy DAB sound!

Awwww that`s a shame, but I must admit it doesn`t look very good, no style at all :D

I was going to say that it is the cheapest DAB that I have seen with stereo speaker but I decided to do a quick froogle before I posted and I found this for £34.99

But this funniest thing is that they are selling refurbished models for £44.99 :D

Right, I`d better not admit that one of the reasons I bought my Goodmans was for the `interesting` styling (a bit Old Skool). Anyway, the Matsui looks to be a better bet (especially at that price) and it`s got 10 presets (but no FM tuner).

The Matsui radio isn`t that ugly, might get one.

I don`t know who came up with the idea of making nearly all DAB radios look like they are pre-war, but they need shooting! I want something modern and in-keeping with the ret of my tech stuff, not a somethine Marconi would balk at!

Ooops sorry FremlinsMan ;)

Another odd/funny thing about the amtsui is that, in the spec, it says Colour : Wood, but I certainly can`t see anything remotely woodlike in the picture :/

Hi

You can get a wood version but it has another brand name on it and i think its currys that i got mine from.Brand name is Grundig and i think was around £5 more and other than the case the same.As for the goodmans it is slightly better at getting a signal but the sound is better on the Grundig/matsui even if using the other settings too on the Grundig.[BAND WIDITH on grun/mat for weak signal].The Goodmans is alot harder to get it too remember the presets as well. The only other thing is the goodmans has the battery option .

bye

I think when they first came out they needed them to look different on the display shelves so they would get noticed, the other manafactures have just followed the trend , I think its a contradicition in terms, digital in a valve design case. :)
