He`s there on business and he asked me what would be good to bring back - any suggestions. It would be for personal use or to sell for profit.......

ooh. things that go well on ebay are so called PIMP watches.., they are cool. seems like there a re a few bids on them. I`ll buy a pimp watch if the price is right.. this means cheap!!!
otherwise Ipod clones, Evisu jeans, that sega idog/ ipod speaker thingy.. bathing ape stuff - in the BAPE shop off Beak street in London, they charge £50 for a t-shirt, they can`t be that much over there..
how about interesting USB thumb drives? in Japan they will have all sorts of formats which we don`t have over here..
hello kitty stuff?
Trainers released only in that market? collectors go nuts for them.
these things ... people pay through the nose for them...
have a look here.. goodies a go go!

Well when I was there last year I bought a digital camera, and a s***-load of videogames. You can tons of SNES and other retro consoles games for pittance. Ooh and i also got Primal Scream: Live in Japam on cd.

I was hoping for loads of bargains when i was over there, but everything is so expensive that i don`t think i could find many bargains at all. Maybe i was looking in the wrong place. DVDs, CDs and Games were all at least as expensive as over here, so unless there is some sort of limited edition you are keen to get your hands on hten don`t expect too much.
Even things like Anime and Manga seemed expensive to me.

If you want real bargains you need to go to hong kong. (as a few of my mates in japan do when they want bargains).

The only real area of bargains is gadgets such as digital cameras (try the big shops like BIC Camera in the main electronics districts) but even then the saving isn`t as bing as HK, and the prices in the "international" shops (where they tend to speak english and give you international power adapters, warranties etc..) are more than the local shops.
What you can buy though is cutting edge technology about 6 months (though this is decreasing) before it comes to the rest of the world). Things like cool mini laptops, tiny digital cameras and cool mobile phones (though most won`t work here) are all tried out over there as a test market.

SO if you want weird, cool, unique stuff then japan is your place, but it aint cheap. If you want bargains then its not.
You could try buying a few mini digital cameras to sell on ebay...

the cost of living is somewhat higher in Japan than the UK so the only way to save money would probably be on items that you would normally import from Japan such as special edition DVDs and the like
