Cheap Progressive Scan / Component DVD Player - £29.99

serdar13 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 23rd August 2004, 09:52

Was in my local Tesco`s this weekend and noticed they had a dirt cheap dvd player for £29.99.

I am not out to buy a new player but the slim and shiny styling made me investigate more. It was a `Hitamo` or `Hikamo`, cant remember exactly but the box had progressive scan written on it and upon looking at the back of it it had component. I thought this was really good for a budget player so if anyone has one any experiences would be appreciated and maybe tempted to purchase one.

Its not listed online so must be an instore promotion.

Bought one December 2003, worth every penny read the reviews, free delivery, and if I had to buy another machine I would buy the same again, for the price 5 stars ;) ;) ;)

Can progressive scan only be done through Component?

My problem is my TV has progressive Scan but not the red, green and blue connections. Only Scart and SVHS.

Any solutions much appreciated.

Si .

Was in my local Tesco`s (Lee Valley - Edmonton/London) and they had 100`s on the shelves. You might want to try another Tesco`s.

Its a Hikona DVD-1001 DVD PLAYER priced at £29.97.

having bought a cheap (£29.99) eBench dvd player from lidl a while back becuase it had Prog Scan, DTS etc... but the thing is that i reckon the more features they jam into a cheap player the worse the implementation of each will be. I know i`ve had to buy speakers with an external decoder cos the onboard decoder seemed to tax the system.

If i had the choice again i`d get a cheap player with less features that did them better. (like maybe the toshiba...)
