Dells` Bargains - a few left!

SolidCoast (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 15th March 2004, 19:00

Just ordered my second Dell machine from the Dell outlet www.dell.co.uk/outlet or just click here...

If you navigate through the reams of crap and head for the Dimension desktops shop, you may find a bargain.

Depending on what model you choose (2400, 4600, 8300) you can get £325, £425 or £550 respectively. PLUS there`s an extra 50 quid off for no apparent reason PLUS free delivery (which is about £45!! - don`t ask me why)

I`ve just ordered a P4 3.0Ghz, 1GB Ram, 120GB hard drive, 128mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 8xDVD+RW, WinXP Home for £680+vat... That`s a £600.00 saving, free delivery and a LOT of machine!!

Offers close at midnight so get shopping...

Pete :)

Just a slight word of warning is if things go wrong you get directed to the outlet people rather than straight through to customer service people.

I`ve bought both a bargain desktop which was fine, then a laptop, which wasn`t and was dead on arrival.

However they didn`t really want it back, didn`t really accept that it was new or that I could reject it, had trouble identifying it as "new" rather than second hand, I spent hours on the phone (national rates) being pushed from pillar to post ("Oh that`s from the outlet - I`ll transfer you") and took ages to sort out.

Because it was already made and of specific spec, they wouldn`t replace it in the same spec, and in the end I got another similar laptop which was pot luck!

I could have done without the hassle factor, but I am pleased with both, and would buy again, but just to warn you!

Thanks Geo, it`s good to have the `heads up`...

Whilst the stock is all brand new, they don`t seem to treat it that way as someone else specced the kit... (and then cancelled their order... )

I`ve had one before and am pleased with it... lets keep the fingers crossed!... :D

The machines may be OK etc, but the savings are not as high as they claim.
Dell are doing offers all of the time try here
The prices include tft monitor +vat + free delivery etc, I tried to make equivalent systems to the one`s on offer and I could not get anywhere near the claimed savings once the monitor and vat were included. Bear in mind that outlet basically deals with returns, so a lot of the stuff is second user. On the plus side dell machines are normally very good quality.
