RE: Sony Ericsson w810i (Black T-Mobile) - £30 (new customers only) Delivered!!

The link is still working, you will have to get zips at home as they are quite large.

Note these phones come with cid 49 or cid 50, only cid49 can be unlocked at home. You will have to pay to unlock a cid 50. Reading other forums etc, some people have had the 49`s and some the 50`s. It`s best to check (detail in link) what you`ve got first.

Think youre missing the point. This isnt a HD DVD Player rather a Upscaling DVD Player

No I am not, it is a HD-DVD player with the upscale, as pointed out on this and other forums, you can wait until they become cheap enough to directly compete with standard DVD players.

RE: Toshiba HD-DVD HDEP30 £79.99!

HD-DVD is dead basically anyone who buys an HD-DVD player now is buying the equivalent of a betamax. You can expect to see the prices of HD-DVD really drop over next few months as Blue-Ray becomes the defacto standard.

Sony Ericsson w810i (Black T-Mobile) - £30 (new customers only) Delivered!!

Black Sony Ericsson w810i on T-Mobile for £30 (£30 for new customers only or £45 for existing customers) from additions.

2 megapixel camera. 512Mb memory card in box. Walkman® music player with stereo headset included. FM radio. Tri-band. Video capture. Games. Bluetooth®.

You get a £15 discount + free pp if you are a new customer, using the promtional code ZG103

My daughter paid £80 for the same phone a couple of months ago, even managed to find a unlock guide.

PS £15 discount only applies only to one phone. If you want more than one you will have to get other family members to sign up. £45 + 3.50pp is not bad value for this phone, for an existing customer either.

RE: ntl - 1m broadband for existing customers -

A friend of mine has a 4M uncapped service, for the same price as BT (so he left BT), But I have noticed that Bulldog (bulldogbroadband.com), Have several offers Including uncapped 8M Broadband.

In IMHO NTL seems to be playing catchup with the ADSL based services.

RE: ntl - 1m broadband for existing customers -

I thought about the upgrade, but it`s not worth it. The 1M service is capped at 3GB per month. This would last about 2 days in my house.

I would have left NTL Long ago if my number was not used for business. Most of my friends on ADSL have much better download speeds (4M uncapped) + much better upload speeds. The upload speed on NTL is not much better than a modem, if you play online games or need to transfer large files forget it.

All in all a poor product at whatever price.

Pioneer / Toshiba are the leaders in DVD-RAM Technology

Say what now?
When exactly did Panasonic drop the bat on this one then

They didn`t, DVD-RAM is an Industry wide standard promoted by the DVD Forum (originally the DVD Consortium) was formed in 1995 by Matsus***a, Toshiba, Hitachi, JVC, Pioneer, Kodak, Mitsubishi, Philips, Thompson Multimedia and Sony. You can read about the standandard in the Panasonic site if you whish (http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/computer/storage/dvdram/prods/faq/faq20.htm)
So I could have mentioned Panasonic etc.

My Basic point is not that LG or any other drive is superior etc, but that RAM discs are re-writable and if I used them, I would get a burner that could write to them.

RE: Aldi from Thursday 13 Jan - TV tuner card £25; DVD+/- burner £60

Pioneer / Toshiba are the leaders in DVD-RAM Technology, the fact that your drive can read a RAM disk does not suprise me.

DVD-RAM is the premier re-writable technology and is far superior to the other formats in performance. I guess, I cant understand why any body wants to just READ a RAM disk. The whole point of RAM discs is their rewrite performance. I use the support to mean write to a RAM disc.

There is nothing wrong with the Pioneer A07 (A08 Arguably best performer 2004), however for an extra tenner you could have got an LG Burner that could burn everything your burning now + Dual Layer + Write RAM Discs.

RE: Aldi from Thursday 13 Jan - TV tuner card £25; DVD+/- burner £60

Dont Buy any Ram Discs for your Pioneer A07/107 (unless you want a stress induced cold sore) it does not support them. You are basically limited to the +R / -R formats. Of the large companys that make writers only LG, support RAM Discs. It`s an OK writer but A08/NEC 3500 dont cost much more now if you buy them OEM.

P.S. if you want to check the specs of your writer go to www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters

and search A07 (see the line through RAM)

RE: HP 4mp Camera + Memory Card + Photograph Printer £99

No, the comet deal features an inferior camera, 3mp and no opitical zoom

RE: Fuji Q1 Digital - 2 Megapixel Digital Camera - £49-99

I Have seen the Nikon (online) so a deduction of 10% at the online price is quite good, however it is out of stock.

My local boots store Has the Canon A70 which is 3.2MP + zoom lens at £129. I am not sure if this is a nationwide offer, so I did not post. The online price at boots is £229. The cheapest I have seen this camera elsewhere is on special offer in Argos £149-99. The offer in my local store is subject to availability.

In addition with the cannon you can get a free mem card.

RE: Very cheap TV`s going fast

No invoice, No sticker etc.

The box was open ( got the delivery men to sign), in fact no instructions or guarantee in the box

RE: Very cheap TV`s going fast

The 28" Samsung is the WS-28M64V, I am very satisfied with It.

I am still waiting for them to collect this Akai ( that was previously cancelled). Has anyone got an address, that I could write to. Customer services really is no use.

RE: Heads-up! NEC 2510 dual-layer burner out next month £69.99 from SVP

You can upgrade and existing NEC 2500A --> NEC 2510A Dual Layer, with a firmware patch. I would wait before purchasing a burner for DL at moment. At the moment DL is only in the +R format. The results of the few tests I have seen so far Indicate, that the media cannot be read by existing DVD players only by the DL Burner. The existing DVD players simply dont recognise the DL discs. Remember that burnt discs are not the same as pressed dics. Some players even have problems with certain brands of single layer burnt discs.

If you are in the market for a new burner, there is no harm in purchasing one with the DL facility. But if you specifically plan to do 1:1 DL copies of your movies, I would wait a few months, until the media compatibility issues are sorted.

RE: Very cheap TV`s going fast

I would be really interested to see if anyone gets the Tosh at £119, I ordered earlier when it was £150 and did not get one. After 2 monthsThey told me they were out of stock.

I ended up with the 28 Samsung (inc stand) for £150 + postage and I am very happy with it. It`s the Samsung WS-28M64V. First class performer, can`t wait for Euro 2004. I see there are some at £200 now.

Incidently I ordered the Akai 28 at £150 but fortunately cancelled. The box arrived open, contents dirty, no guarantee or instructions and the batteries were in the remote. I made the delivery men sign something about the condition and phoned skybuy, who said they would arrange collection, 2 days latter and I am still waiting for them to collect.

Anyhow even if the Akai was new and boxed etc I would not have kept it. It`s the Akai WS-P28NTF-SF-GB. It`s like something out of the Ark, the control buttons everything about it has that old fashioned look and feel to it. How they describe the screen as flat is a mystery to me, it`s very convex. I would not get this set at anyprice.

The problem with SkyBuy apart from delivey is the lack of model numbers.
Anyhow you can see the akai here

Trust me it really is that ugly!

RE: nec dvd-r dvd+r dvd writer £59.99 8x jobbie

First of all it`s great burner with some first class reviews.

Newbies to DVD copying etc go here its a great forum, word of warning read the guides before posting questions.

Only use official firmware upgrades, these resolve software/media problems. Hacking FirmWare to make region free and increase rip speed etc, may invalidate warranty

If you dont want to upgrade firmware on your writer, use a peice of software called AnyDVD. This pay software works like a driver in the background allowing you to view discs from any region, it also removes all protection from the the dvd so you can copy. You can download it and try it free for 21 days.

The best way to copy for free is to use DVDDecrypter to rip to HD, DVD Shrink to author and create image, Finally use latest version of DVDDecryter again, to burn image.

The NEC is a standard drive that works with standard IDE equipment, there should be no problem fitting into pc`s, best solution is to do a staight swap with existing CD Burner (NEC Burns CD`s as well).

RE: Very cheap TV`s going fast

I ordered the 28" Tosh at the same time. I have called and emailed the only response I get is "it`s on order". I just suppose we have to wait the 28 days.

RE: Dells` Bargains - a few left!

The machines may be OK etc, but the savings are not as high as they claim.
Dell are doing offers all of the time try here
The prices include tft monitor +vat + free delivery etc, I tried to make equivalent systems to the one`s on offer and I could not get anywhere near the claimed savings once the monitor and vat were included. Bear in mind that outlet basically deals with returns, so a lot of the stuff is second user. On the plus side dell machines are normally very good quality.

RE: Very cheap TV`s going fast

Already received Bush TV/DVD combo which was ordered after Toshiba.
Toshiba is apparently still in process.

However just did a search on the site with the following result Toshiba 28" TV, £150.00 In Stock. So anyone who missed it first time around can order one, though don`t know when it will be delivered.

PS just enter "Toshiba" as the keyword in the search
Notice 28 "widescreen" + dvd (£449) different dimension to the one we ordered.

RE: TV DVD Combo

Arrived today, yes the movies are total crap.
Looks new every thing boxed and sealed etc, but noticed finger print on side of the screen.
Has anyone managed to get the previously posted Bush DVD-142 multi-region hack to work?
Played with it for the last hour cant get it to work.

RE: Safeway - Cheap DVD player

It Plays both VCD & SVCD Disks (tested on both).

I was suprised because it`s not on the box or in the manual.

You can also burn your MPEG1/2 files into folders and it find them and play.

It also Shows Jpegs. This player does a lot for a little cost
