Computer bargains at Lidl next Thursday 26th Sept

Duffbeer (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 21st September 2002, 15:01

Lidl have a computer special running on Thursday, the best bargain I think is the £9.99 Typhoon optical cordless scroll mouse with 5 buttons (3 programmable), integrated recharger, USB/PS2 connections.

the flyer says "please contact the store manager if you`re interested in purchasing any of these products" which I hope means that they might be taking pre-orders (at least for the expensive items) and avoiding the mad dash through the doors at 9:00am. I tried for the Aldi offer a while back but all the system units went to those who had been queueing since 7:30 am. This new offer seems a better specified unit than Lidl brought out a few months ago.

For those interested, here are more details from the flyer
Typhoon optical cordless 3 button scroll mouse & cordless keyboard PS2 connection £19.99

Ashampoo Uninstaller 2002/3 and ImageView 2002/3 packages £4.99 each

Mini MP3 player £59.99

Lexmark Z25 6/9ppm Colour jetprinter USB £44

Microtek ScanMaker USB 4800 £69.99

Gericom 19" monitor, 1600 x 1200 max res, .25 dot pitch £149.00 (only available with a computer)

and of course

Targa PC with
Athlon 2200+

256Mb DDR ram
Maxtor 120Gb hard drive

Word 2000 OEM

for £749 - which with the monitor is £898

Tempted anybody??

Oh and don`t forget the opt/cordless rechargeable mouse at £9.99 AND i`m pretty sure you can buy the monitor WITHOUT buying the PC, the MP3 ( 64mb ) player looks good value, but got a ok score on the last review I saw, they did`nt rate the sound output

Personally i wouldnt touch the stuff, i bought one of the mice when they had them for £19.99 not so long ago, the battery compartment is underneath and the mechanism used to open it, is very dodgy i had the mouse replaced 3 times in 4days due to this breaking, in the end i had to send it back to get the money returned, Lidls now do a anything over £10 must be sent back- then they decide if its a fault or you damaging the product before they issue a refund, i wouldnt touch unnamed products ie scanners etc has these require drivers its ok now but when the next OS comes along, will theyre be drivers available?(speaking from personal experience),a friend bought one from aldi in january p4 job etc top of the range everything- yeah right i build pc`s in my spare time for voluntary groups and their is nothing fancy inside the box, what i would say is watch out a new company will soon be knocking pc world for six-according to the times in the week top range pc`s will soon be avail for less than £200.

My sister bought her DVD player from there, and it`s been brilliant, less than £80! It plasy SVCD and all DVDs, VCD, MP3 etc. No problems at all with it, and it`s multi region.

They sold out quick too.

Not sure about some of their merchandise though. ;)

Also is not a cordless optical scroll muse, but a corded one.

Spoke to someone buying the keyboard set who said that the corless mice were pretty duff, but the corded ones that they had were good.

Got one anyway, just don`t know if I`ve still had a good buy though!
